  • Think Banned Thoughts "Think Banned Thoughts" - Taft - A President for All TimesWhat I loved most about Taft 2012 was the absolute truth at the heart of it. Jason Heller's deft satirical portrayal of American politics is reminiscent of Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal". Not that Jason is suggesting we start eating our babies, more that he is hinting, oh so subtly, that the state of modern politics is already eating our babies, or at least our humanity, and with it our hope.

And yet, as he points out, we do still hope. We all still blindly, and somewhat stupidly, hope that this race will be different, this politician will be different, this election will bring about true change.

Ultimately Taft 2012 is much less about a "werewalrus" of a man, resurrected after a hundred years to lead our nation to glory, than it is about a simple, humble, honest man trying to navigate the muddy, murky, tainted waters of modern American politics.

In William Howard Taft we see ouselves, our own innocence reborn. Our own desperate wish to believe that the system works, and that it's looking out for our best interest:

Abby - All three and a half feet and six years of her - piped up. "They showed us a video in school. They make this stuff with smushed turkey. The bones and everything. They make pink toothpaste out of turkey and then color it with turkey color."
Taft looked at the forkful that hovered a mere inch from his open mouth. "Oh, really? That's quite an imagination you have, little one! Back in my day, President Theodore Roosevelt passed the Pure Food and Drug Act. Things like that aren't allowed to make it to market."

While Taft 2012 explores the deep recesses of American politics, it remains at all times a humorous and lighthearted look at the seedy underbelly. From Taft's night out drinking and whoring to his secret service agent's classified notes on "Big Boy" and his antics, the stump speeches, television interview, tender moments with the last living constituent from his era, Taft's outrage at learning how campaign financing works in the modern era, reading Taft 2012 is like getting an all access pass to the three-ring Election circus. Both touching and terrifying, but ultimately illuminating - it reminds us that politicians are people too. Not demons, not angels, certainly not saviors - just people doing the best they can with what WE give them.
  • Namae - Great ProductBought this for my daughter to introduce her to sketching on the computer. Also, bought a Wacom tablet in conjunction with this software. She loves it! She loves drawing manga and everything appears to be within easy reach.

    Thanks for a great product!
  • Luc A. Luzzo "(L-Squared Programming)" - Amazing, and well worth the priceMy review is short and to the point.
10 times better than the ipad 1/2, better camera, graphics, Super IPS screen, four (and a fifth core for minor processing) cores, tegra 3, blablablablablablabla.... IT'S ALSO CHEAPER than the Ipad... which is worse.

For apple products, I only recommend people to Ipods, which are the best mp3 player on the market. When it comes to any other product though, apple tv, Macs, ipads... There are way more choices that are better, but people pay for the brand because they either want to be part of the crowd, they don't KNOW there are better things, or just don't care if it's better and want to have a brand name item (apple).

Also, this is just my opinion, but I worked at geek squad for 2 years (which doesn't say much to Best Buy haters), I've made custom computers and electronics for people, and I major in Computer sciences and technology for two years. So please don't flame me if you don't agree, just thumbs down my review.

  • Hawks - Great Product if You Take the EffortAfter struggling with math all through high school, I fell in love with MyMathLab after taking a Advanced Algebra class using it. I found the site easy to use and navigate, and it was also very helpful. It makes homework so much easier and I can honestly say I learned more from this program than from my university proffessor.

In my previous experience with this product, each of our homework assignments were 10 questions, and each question represented a slightly different way of expressing the concepts you were learning. If you did not understand the question, a guided tutorial would work you through the problem, give you the answer, and present you with a new, but like, question. Getting immediate feedback on questions I could not otherwise answer was great, and it saved a trip across campus to the professor's office.

I also enjoyed being able to know exactly were I stood in the class, and having all the resources to exceed. Assuming your professor updates outside class work, MyMathLab tracks all of your test, quizes, and homework scores so you will always know how you are doing. Many other features such as practice problems and practice tests gave me plenty of exposure to the concepts before taking a graded paper test in class.

The book was provided in an electronic format with the online program, which meant there was no need to buy a $100+ textbook. It's also great that the program is 100% online, so there is no software to download and you can do homework anywhere you have the Internet.
